Die Übersicht enthält 200 klassische Komponisten, die Top50 sind heller unterlegt. Alle Namen sind anklickbar und führen zu den richtigen Wikipedia Artikeln.

Die Auswahl erfolgte für jede Epoche algorithmisch aus insgesamt über 7000 Komponisten mit einer Gewichtung von 40% Bekanntheit, 40% Marktrelevanz und 20% Hörertrend. Meine persönliche Vorlieben blieben also unbeachtet (sonst wären z. B. Massenet, Berg und Xenakis nicht dabei, dafür aber d’Indy, Respighi und Vierne).

Da es in der Übersicht um die Epochen "Mittelalter" bis "Neue Musik" geht, blieben Jazz-Komponisten (Duke Ellington), Pop-Komponisten (Paul McCartney) und reine Film-Komponisten (Ennio Morricone) außen vor, obwohl sie in der Liste noch vor Grieg, Mahler und Stravinski rangieren. Aufgenommen habe ich allerdings John Williams und Michael Nyman, da diese außer Filmmusik auch klassische Werke komponiert haben.

Das Farbdesign wurde für gute Lesbarkeit und Druckfähigkeit (auch Schwarz-Weiß-Druck) optimiert. Die Unterlegfarben weisen alle die gleiche Helligkeit und Sättigung auf. Für bessere Auffindbarkeit sind die Top-50-Komponisten etwas heller unterlegt. Die Grafik (1024 x 855 px) ist so formatiert, dass sie auf jedem Bildschirm komplett ohne Scrolling darstellbar sein sollte.
