Kurz nach der Ankunft in London erkrankte Eliška Misáková und wurde durch Věra Růžičková ersetzt. Am Tag, als die tschechoslowakische Mannschaft den Sieg im Mehrkampf errang, verstarb Misáková an einer Poliomyelitis-Infektion.
