Die Saison 1997/98 war die dritte reguläre Saison der West Coast Hockey League. Während der regulären Saison bestritten die neun Teams jeweils 64 Spiele. In den Play-offs setzten sich die San Diego Gulls durch und gewannen den dritten Taylor Cup in ihrer Vereinsgeschichte.

Teamänderungen

Folgende Änderungen wurden vor Beginn der Saison vorgenommen:

• Die Alaska Gold Kings wurden inaktiv.
• Die Idaho Steelheads wurden als Expansionsteam in die Liga aufgenommen.
• Die Phoenix Mustangs wurden als Expansionsteam in die Liga aufgenommen.
• Die Tacoma Sabercats wurden als Expansionsteam in die Liga aufgenommen.
• Die Tucson Gila Monsters wurden als Expansionsteam in die Liga aufgenommen.
• Die Fresno Falcons änderten ihren Namen in Fresno Fighting Falcons.
• Die Reno Renegades änderten ihren Namen in Reno Rage.
