Countys und Städte von Virginia, nach Gründungsjahr

Der US-Bundesstaat Virginia ist in 95 Countys unterteilt, hinzu kommen 39 Unabhängige Städte (independent cities), die zugleich Stadt und County sind. Die Countys des 1788 gegründeten Bundesstaates sind vergleichsweise kleinräumig. Damit war es auch zur Gründungszeit möglich, in einem Tag zum County-Seat (Hauptort) und zurück zu reisen.

Accomack County 001 Accomac 1663 Accomac Shire wurde 1634 als eines der ersten Shires von Virginia errichtet. 1642 änderte der Name in Northampton County, was später aufgeteilt wurde. Der nördliche Teil hieß seit 1663 Accomac County – später mit „k“ geschrieben.
