Koios (Mythologie)

Koios (Vorlage:GrcS) oder Polos ({{#invoke:Vorlage:lang|flat}}) ist einer der Titanen der griechischen Mythologie.

Ebenso wie die anderen Titanen wurde er nach ihrer Niederlage gegen die olympischen Götter in den Tartaros gestoßen, wo die Hundertarmigen vor dessen eherner Türe Wache stehen.

Mythos

Als seine Mutter Gaia ihnen den Auftrag gab, Uranos zu entmannen, hielt er mit seinen Brüdern Hyperion, Kreios und Iapetos ihren Vater fest.<ref>Bibliotheke des Apollodor 1,1,3</ref> Kronos entmannte ihn dann mit einer Sichel. Koios ist der Sohn des Uranos und der Gaia. Seine Frau war die Titanin Phoibe. Seine Töchter waren Leto und Asteria.
