Die Houston Aeros waren eine Eishockeymannschaft der American Hockey League (AHL). Bereits in den 1970er Jahren gab es ein Team, das unter dem Namen in der World Hockey Association spielte, doch nach der Schließung der Liga wurde das Team aufgelöst. Die Aeros wurden 1994 gegründet und spielten bis einschließlich der Saison 2000/01 in der International Hockey League (IHL). Dort gewannen sie 1999 den Turner Cup. Ab der Saison 2001/02 spielten sie in der AHL, wo sie den Calder Cup 2003 gewonnen haben. Wie alle AHL-Teams arbeiteten sie eng mit einem Team der National Hockey League zusammen; bei den Houston Aeros war es Minnesota Wild. Farmteam der Houston Aeros wiederum waren zuletzt die Orlando Solar Bears aus der ECHL.

Nach der Saison 2012/13 wurde das Team mit sofortiger Wirkung nach Des Moines, Iowa umgesiedelt, wo es mit Beginn der Spielzeit 2013/14 unter dem Namen Iowa Wild am Ligabetrieb der American Hockey League teilnimmt.
