Geographie
Die Gemeinde liegt südlich der Stadt Mailand in der Poebene und gehört zum unmittelbaren Ballungsraum der lombardischen Metropole. Opera befindet sich auf einer weitgehend ebenen, landwirtschaftlich geprägten Fläche, die durch zahlreiche Kanäle und Bewässerungssysteme charakterisiert ist.
Das Gemeindegebiet grenzt unter anderem an die Kommunen Rozzano, Locate di Triulzi und San Donato Milanese. In der Umgebung befinden sich sowohl landwirtschaftlich genutzte Flächen als auch zunehmend urbane und gewerbliche Zonen infolge der Expansion des Großraums Mailand.
