St. Clemens ist eine katholische Pfarrkirche im ostwestfälischen Rheda in Nordrhein-Westfalen, Deutschland. Kirche und Gemeinde gehören zum Pastoralverbund Rheda-Herzebrock-Clarholz (RHC) im Erzbistum Paderborn.

Geschichte

1910 wurde der neuromanische Bau mit zwei Fronttürmen nach Plänen von Ludwig Becker errichtet.

Als die Gemeinde nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg immens anwuchs, wurde 1967 zunächst eine Vikarie eingerichtet, die 1974 zur eigenständigen Pfarrgemeinde St. Johannes Baptist erhoben wurde. Unter dem Datum des 24. Juni 2012 wurde diese jedoch durch erzbischöfliches Dekret zum 1. Januar 2013 aufgehoben und in die Mutterpfarrei St. Clemens rückgepfarrt.

Orgel

Die mächtige, in Anlehnung an barocke Vorbilder gestaltete Orgel wurde 1984 auf Initiative des Kantors Christoph Grohmann durch die Firma Fischer + Krämer aus Endingen erbaut, da das alte Instrument als unzureichend angesehen wurde. Die alte Orgel wurde vermutlich noch vor 1677 durch Hinrich Klausing aus Herford für die Franziskanerkirche in Wiedenbrück geschaffen. 1851/1852 wurde sie von der katholischen Kirchengemeinde Rheda angekauft und 1886 umgebaut. Dabei kam es zu einer Verbreiterung des Prospekts. 1911 wurde sie in die neue Pfarrkirche St. Clemens überführt. 1960 erfolgte eine Erweiterung und Restaurierung durch F. W. Stegerhoff (Paderborn). Beim Bau der neuen Orgel wurde das alte Hauptgehäuse restauriert und blieb als Rückpositiv erhalten. Das Instrument hat 50 Register auf drei Manualen und Pedal.<ref>Informationen zur Orgel</ref>
