Im Jahr 1791 gründete er im Auftrag seines Vaters, Scheich Dhiyab bin Isa, den Ort Abu Dhabi nahe einer Süßwasserquelle.

Das von ihm errichtete Fort al-Hisn ist heute noch Mittelpunkt der Altstadt von Abu Dhabi.
