Bei Homer wird er nur als Sohn des Flussgottes genannt, er ist der Vater des Diokles, welcher die Söhne Krethon und Orsilochos hat.<ref>Homer Odyssee 3,489; 15,187; 21,16; Ilias 5,545 ff.</ref> Pausanias berichtet von einem messenischen Mythos, nach dem die Mutter des Orsilochos Telegone, die Tochter des Gründers von Pharai Pharis, ist. In Scholien werden außer Diokles noch Dorodoche, die Gattin des Ikarios und Mutter der Penelope,<ref>Pherekydes, Fragment 90 beim Scholion zu Homer, Odyssee 15,16, in: Karl Müller, Theodor Müller, Victor Langlois (Hrsg.): Fragmenta historicorum graecorum (FHG). Bd. 1, S. 93.</ref> und Medusa, die Gattin des korinthischen Königs Polybos, genannt.<ref>Pherekydes, Scholion zu Sophokles, Oidipus Rex 485</ref>
