Das Finale bestritten der Brite Laurence Doherty und der Ire Harold Mahony, welches Doherty deutlich mit 6:4, 6:2, 6:3 gewann. Im Halbfinale hätte Doherty zuvor normalerweise gegen seinen Bruder Reginald gespielt, dieser weigerte sich jedoch gegen seinen Bruder anzutreten und verzichtete. Ein Spiel um die Bronzemedaille gab es nicht. Insgesamt nahmen 13 Spieler aus drei Nationen am Einzelwettbewerb teil, dieser fand vom 6. bis 11. Juli statt.
