Die Saison 1987/88 war die 66. Spielzeit der Nationale 1A, der höchsten französischen Eishockeyspielklasse. Meister wurde zum insgesamt zweiten Mal in der Vereinsgeschichte der Mont-Blanc HC. Der Chamonix Hockey Club stieg in die zweite Liga ab.

Modus

Die zehn Mannschaften absolvierten in der Hauptrunde jeweils 18 Spiele. Die sechs bestplatzierten Mannschaften qualifizierten sich für die Finalrunde. Die vier bestplatzierten Mannschaften der Finalrunde wiederum qualifizierten sich für die Playoffs, in denen der Meister ausgespielt wurde. Die vier Letztplatzierten der Hauptrunde mussten in der Abstiegsrunde antreten, deren Letztplatzierter in die zweite Liga abstieg. Die Punkte aus der Hauptrunde wurden in die Abstiegsrunde übernommen. Für einen Sieg erhielt jede Mannschaft zwei Punkte, bei einem Unentschieden gab es ein Punkt und bei einer Niederlage null Punkte.
