Die Medicine Hat Tigers sind ein professionelles kanadisches Eishockeyteam aus Medicine Hat, Alberta, das in der Juniorenliga Western Hockey League spielt.

Seine Heimspiele trägt das Franchise in der 4.000 Zuschauer fassenden Medicine Hat Arena aus.

Geschichte

Das Team wurde 1970 gegründet und gewann bisher zweimal den Memorial Cup, die offizielle kanadische Juniorenmeisterschaft im Eishockey. Außerdem gewannen die Tigers zweimal die Meisterschaft der WHL sowie sieben Divisionstitel.

Im Frühjahr 2007 hofften viele Fans, die Stadt Medicine Hat würde den Bau einer neuen, 90 Millionen Kanadische Dollar teuren Arena mit 6.500 Sitzplätzen in die Wege leiten. Diese Pläne scheiterten jedoch, da die Stadt nicht in der Lage war, eine solch große Summe zu finanzieren.

2007 erreichten die Medicine Hat Tigers erneut das Finale um den Memorial Cup, verloren dieses jedoch mit 1:3 gegen die Vancouver Giants. Zwei Wochen zuvor hatten die Tigers die Giants im WHL-Finale geschlagen. Da Vancouver Austragungsort der Finalspiele war, durften die Giants am Turnier um den Memorial Cup neben den Meistern der drei kanadischen Top-Juniorenligen teilnehmen.

In der Saison 2007/08 spielte das Team in der Central Division der Eastern Conference der WHL.
