Mathieu Razanakolona (* 2. August 1986 in Québec, Kanada) ist ein ehemaliger madagassischer Skirennläufer. Er war 2006 in Turin der erste Wintersportler, der für Madagaskar bei Olympischen Winterspielen an den Start ging.

Biographie

Razanakolona wurde als Sohn einer kanadischen Mutter und eines madagassischen Vaters geboren. Bereits im Kindesalter begann er mit dem Skisport. Sein internationales Renndebüt gab er am 18. Dezember 2004 in Saint-Sauveur bei einem FIS-Slalom.

Am 24. Januar 2006 bestritt Razanakolona in Schladming zum ersten und einzigen Mal ein Weltcuprennen, wobei er im bereits im ersten Durchgang des Slaloms disqualifiziert wurde. Platz, im Slalom schied er aus.

Im Vorfeld der Spiele hatten Mathieu und sein Bruder Philippe das das gemeinnützige Projekt rAzAlpin.org gegründet mit dem Ziel das Heimatland ihres Vaters in den Blickpunkt der Weltöffentlichkeit zu rücken und Spendengelder für Entwicklungsprojekte zu sammeln. Aus rAzAlpin.org entwickelte sich später der offizielle madagassische Skiverband.
