Iynx (Mythologie)

Iynx (Vorlage:GrcS, {{#invoke:Vorlage:lang|full|CODE=la |SCRIPTING=Latn |SERVICE=lateinisch}}), auch Jynx, ist eine Gestalt aus der griechischen Mythologie.

Sie ist nach Kallimachos die Tochter des Pan und der Echo, in der Suda der Echo oder der Peitho.<ref>Suda: {{#invoke:Vorlage:lang|flat}}</ref>

Sie wird von Hera versteinert oder in einen Vogel, den Jynx torquilla (Wendehals), verwandelt, weil sie Zeus zur Liebe mit Io verführt.<ref>Suda: {{#invoke:Vorlage:lang|flat}}</ref><ref>Scholion zu Theokrit 2,17</ref> Als Vogel wird sie dann auf ein Rädchen gebunden und zum Liebeszauber verwendet.<ref>Scholion zu Pindar, Pythien 4,380</ref> Aphrodite bringt dieses Iynx genannte Rädchen zu Jason, der Medeia damit dazu bringt, ihn zu lieben.<ref>Pindar, Pythien 4,380</ref>
