Arybbas (Soldat)

Arybbas (Vorlage:GrcS; † 331 v. Chr.) war ein Leibwächter (Somatophylax) des makedonischen Königs Alexanders des Großen.

Möglicherweise stammte Arybbas aus Epirus und war wegen seiner hohen Stellung am makedonischen Hof vermutlich ein Mitglied des Königshauses der Molosser. Das Amt eines königlichen Somatophylax bekleidete er wohl schon während der Regierung von Alexanders Vater Philipp II.<ref>Waldemar Heckel: Who’s Who in the Age of Alexander the Great. Prosopography of Alexander’s Empire, 2006, S. 56.</ref> Er begleitete Alexxander ab dem Jahr 334 v. Chr. auf dessen Asienfeldzug und starb im Winter des Jahres 332 auf 331 v. Chr. in Ägypten an einer Krankheit. Sein Platz unter den Leibwächtern wurde von Leonnatos eingenommen.<ref>Arrian, Anabasis 3, 5, 5.</ref>
