Aiko Yanai

Aiko Yanai (jap. {{#invoke:Vorlage:lang|flat}}, Yanai Aiko; * 22. November 1975 in Suita), bekannt unter ihrem Künstlernamen aiko, ist eine J-Pop-Sängerin und Songwriterin. Ihre Musik besteht in erster Linie aus Liebesliedern, die vor allem bei der jungen weiblichen Zielgruppe Erfolg verzeichnen. Sie wurde 2005<ref>http://www.oricon.co.jp/music/special/050727_01.html</ref> und 2006<ref>http://www.oricon.co.jp/music/special/060726_01.html</ref> in einer Umfrage des offiziellen Chartherausgebers Oricon zur beliebtesten japanischen Sängerin gewählt.

Musikalischer Werdegang

Aiko vollendete 1996 ihr Gesangsstudium am Osaka College of Music und wurde anschließend Radiomoderatorin bei FM Osaka. Ihr Debüt als Sängerin machte sie 1998 mit der Single Ashita. Seither wurden ihre Songs vor allem bei verschiedenen Fernsehserien und Werbespots genutzt.

Mit ihrer dritten Single Hanabi gelang ihr erstmals der Einstieg in die Top 10 der japanischen Charts und von ihrem darauffolgenden zweiten Studioalbum Sakura no Ki no Shita wurden bereits über eine Million Exemplare verkauft. Ihre sechste Single Boyfriend ist ihr bisher meistverkaufter Song. Sie bekam eine Einladung zur bekanntesten japanischen Musikshow Kōhaku Uta Gassen im Jahre 2000. Inzwischen nahm sie sieben weitere Male an der Sendung teil. Ihr 3. Studioalbum Natsufuku und ihr 5. Studioalbum Akatsuki no Love Letter wurden 2002 bzw. 2004 bei den Japan Gold Disc Awards als Rock & Pop Album des Jahres ausgezeichnet. Obgleich sie seit 2000 in den Singlecharts kontinuierlich in die Top 3 einstieg, gelang es ihr erst 2009 mit ihrer 25. Single milk / Nageki no Kisu, den ersten Platz zu erreichen.
