DP World (arabisch موانئ دبي العالمية) ist einer der weltweit größten Hafenbetreiber und unterhält in verschiedenen Ländern zusammen 78 Terminals (Stand: 2017). 2017 lagen etwa 80 Prozent des Geschäfts im Bereich Containerterminals (Umschlag von rund 70 Millionen Twenty-foot Equivalent Units (TEU)).<ref>André Germann: DP World schlägt deutlich mehr um · 2017 gingen 70,1 Millionen TEU über die Kaikanten. Das Unternehmen ist seit 2019 Eigentümer der unter dem Markennamen P&O weitergeführten Fährgesellschaft P&O Ferrymasters. P&O betreibt Fährverbindungen zwischen Großbritannien, Irland und Kontinentaleuropa (Frankreich, Belgien und den Niederlanden).
Vorlage:Hinweisbaustein DP World wird an der Borse Dubai und an der London Stock Exchange (LSE) notiert. Dubai World, die staatliche Investmentgruppe der Vereinigten Arabischen Emirate, hält Anteile an DP World.
Geschichte
Gründung und erste Jahre
Die Gesellschaft entstand 2005 aus dem Zusammenschluss der Dubai Ports Authority (DPA), die in Dubai den Innenstadthafen Mina Rashid und den Tiefseehafen Jebel Ali unterhielt, mit der bereits 1999 gegründeten Dubai Ports International (DPI). DPI hatte mit dem Betrieb von Hafenanlagen in Saudi-Arabien und Dschibuti begonnen und sich zu einem der großen internationalen Hafenbetreiber weiterentwickelt, vor allem mit Übernahme der CSX World Terminals für knapp 1,15 Milliarden Dollar im Dezember 2004<ref>Dubai Ports Buys CSX Terminal Business. Zu den von CSX hinzugewonnenen Häfen zählt auch der Binnenhafen Germersheim am Rhein.
Im Februar 2006 gewann DP Ports einen Bieterwettstreit gegen PSA International aus Singapur<ref>Dubai schlägt Singapur. In: Manager Magazin. 13. Februar 2006, abgerufen am 18. Börsengang in Dubai

Finanzkrise und zweiter Börsengang in London
2007 begann in den USA eine Finanzkrise. Diese griff später auf die Realwirtschaft über.
Die Muttergesellschaft Dubai World geriet 2009 in Zahlungsschwierigkeiten; die Ratingagentur Moody’s stufte deren Kreditwürdigkeit auf Ramschniveau Ba1 herab.<ref>Anthony DiPaola: DP World Credit Rating Slashed to Junk, Emaar Cut by Moody’s'. Man wollte Schulden abbauen und sich stärker auf profitablere Märkte konzentrieren.
Bis April 2011 hatte sich das Rating des Unternehmens wieder auf anlagewürdig (englisch {{Modul:Vorlage:lang}} Modul:Multilingual:153: attempt to index field 'data' (a nil value)) stabilisiert.

Im zweiten Quartal 2011 erhielt das Unternehmen für umgerechnet 2,3 Milliarden US-Dollar den Zuschlag für den Bau des neuen Containerhafens London Gateway im Londoner Hafen.<ref>Alistair Osborne: DP World to open London Gateway port by end of 2013. Konzentration auf Wachstumsmärkte
Im März 2013 verkaufte DP World eine 75-%-Beteiligung an zwei Container-Terminals und einem Logistikzentrum in Hongkong für zusammen 742 Millionen US-Dollar.<ref>Dinesh Nair: UPDATE 2 - DP World sells Hong Kong assets for $742 mln. August 2013 (Lua-Fehler in Modul:Multilingual, Zeile 153: attempt to index field 'data' (a nil value)).</ref> Analysten zeigten sich unschlüssig, ob diese Entwicklung als Konzentration auf die Märkte Afrika und Südamerika zu begrüßen oder eher kritisch als Verkauf im Bereich des Kerngeschäfts zu bewerten ist, in Zusammenhang mit der weiterhin extrem hohen Verschuldung der Muttergesellschaft Dubai World. Bereits 2012 hatte DP World Hafenbetriebe in Belgien, Russland und im Jemen verkauft.
