Timothy Shay Arthur
Timothy Shay Arthur (* 6. Juni 1809 in Newburgh, New York; † 6. März 1885 in Philadelphia) war ein US-amerikanischer Schriftsteller.
Arthur wuchs in Baltimore auf und lebte seit 1841 in Philadelphia. Er war seit 1836 mit Eliza Alden verheiratet; sie hatten fünf Kinder.<ref name="NYT">Nachruf in der New York Times, 7. März 1885</ref>
Arthur war einer der produktivsten Autoren der Zeit vor dem Amerikanischen Bürgerkrieg.<ref name="NYT" /> Viele seiner Werke, so auch Ten nights in a bar-room, and what I saw there, unterstützen die amerikanische Abstinenzbewegung.<ref>C.D.
