''The SAM song'' ist ein Lied der [[Irish Rebel Music]]. Gesungen wurde das Lied unter anderem von der irischen Musikgruppe [[Irish Brigade (Band)|Irish Brigade]] und der Band [[Shebeen (Band)|Shebeen]]. Die Melodie stammt von dem bekannten US-amerikanischen [[Western Music|Western-Song]] ''[[(Ghost) Riders in the Sky]].'' Der Text handelt von einem Freiwilligen der [[Provisional Irish Republican Army]], welcher nach mehreren Jahren Haft wieder den bewaffneten Kampf gegen die britischen Truppen in [[Nordirland]] antritt. Das Lied ist nach [[Surface to Air Missile|SAM-Raketen]] benannt ('''S'''urface to '''A'''ir '''M'''issile), die von IRA-Käufern in den [[Vereinigte Staaten|Vereinigten Staaten]] gekauft wurden, um britische [[Hubschrauber]] abzuschießen und somit die Moral der feindlichen Truppen im Land weiter zu untergraben.

I joined the IRA!

Then there came internement in the year of ’71.
The Brits thought we were beaten, that we were on the run,
on that early august morning, they kicked in our backdoor.
But for every man they took away
HOW MANY DID THEY MISS?
they missed a hundred more!

I spent eight years in the cages, I had time to think and plan,
althought they locked away a boy, I walked out a man.
There’s only one thing that I’ve learned while in their cell I laid:
the Brits won’t never leave us
UNTIL WHEN?
until they’re blown away!

All through the days of [[Irischer Hungerstreik von 1981|hunger strike]], I watched my comrades die,
and in the streets of Belfast, you could hear the women cry.
I can’t forget the [[Anschlag von Loughgall 1987|massacre]], that friday at Loughgall,
