&lt;br /&gt;
Der Preis soll den wissenschaftlichen Austausch zwischen Frankreich und den Vereinigten Staaten fördern. Er wird abwechselnd an junge französische und US-amerikanische Wissenschaftler in Anerkennung außerordentlicher wissenschaftlicher Leistungen vergeben. Zusätzlich zu dem eigentlichen Preisgeld von 75.000 US-Dollar (Stand 2025) wird dem Preisträger eine Geldsumme zur Verfügung gestellt, die ihm einen Forschungsaufenthalt in dem jeweils anderen Land erlaubt. Der Preisträger soll auch im Partnerland einen Vortrag halten.&lt;br /&gt;

Der &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Richard Lounsbery Award&amp;#039;&amp;#039; wurde von Vera Lounsbery zur Erinnerung an ihren verstorbenen Gatten [[Richard Lounsbery]] gestiftet. Die &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Richard Lounsbery Foundation&amp;#039;&amp;#039; mit Sitz in [[Washington, D.C.]] unterstützt den neben dem &amp;#039;&amp;#039;Richard Lounsbery Award&amp;#039;&amp;#039; internationale Forschungsprojekte und -kooperationen, insbesondere zwischen Frankreich und den Vereinigten Staaten.&lt;br /&gt;
