Ulevich studierte [[Journalistik]] an der [[University of Wisconsin–Madison]] ([[Bachelor|Bachelor of Arts]], 1968)<ref name="Fischer"/><ref>[https://sjmc.wisc.edu/about/award-winning-alumni/ University of Wisconsin-Madison, School of Journalism and Mass Communication: ''Award Winners'']</ref> und arbeitete bereits neben dem Studium für die [[Nachrichten- und Presseagentur]] Associated Press (AP).
