Ziel der Gemeinschaft ist die Sicherung der Funktionsfähigkeit von Mobiltelefonen nach dem GSM- beziehungsweise [[Universal Mobile Telecommunications System|UMTS]]-Standard durch die Durchführung standardisierter Tests und der darauf folgenden Zertifizierung des Gerätes.
